What am I passionate about? What am I interested in? Let me state, first of all, that I absolutly hate when people ask me this question. I know that most people love being asked this question because they get to talk about themselves and blah blah blah. But for some reason I just can't seem to answer this question to my satisfaction. I always answer "Oh, I just like hanging out with friends, playing bassoon, reading...", which is what I like to do, but it makes me seem...well...not interesting.
For the first time in awhile, I went to visit my brother and his family, which includes his wife and two sons. Jackson is four and Nathan is two. They're the most wonderful little boys I've met and I LOVE them. Not like, but love them. Jackson is always learning new things and quickly too. Nathan is just learning how to talk, which is unusual to me because Jackson was talking at age one and the only words Nathan can say at age two is "Yesh" and "No". That got me interested in how children learn. How do you teach a kid everything you know? The simple things seem to be the hardest, things you've just known since...forever. Jackson will ask why he has to do something or how you do something and I'm just stuck, I can't give him a good answer because I'm can't explain. Children and how they learn fascinates me.
I'm also very interested in human rights, if you get me started on the topic. My father is a lawyer and protects people's rights, especially the rights of prisoners, when they're violated. He's taught me that no matter what, everybody has rights that are not to be violated, no matter what they have done. Some people would disagree, saying that "prisoners deserve what they get", and "they had their chance". Those statements infuriate me. Is it right to beat a person to a pulp, till they're hurt so bad that they can't move or talk? This happens to prisoners every day. No, I don't think that they deserve that kind of treatment no matter what. Yes, they deserve to be in prison for what they did, but not have their rights be abused.
Last of all, I love playing my bassoon and tenor saxophone. Whenever I play my instrument, I feel happy for some reason. I can't explain. Also, I love my family and animals, especailly my cat Patrick. He's chubby and fat, but I love him. Reading is my favorite hobbie, if you want to call it that. I don't really see reading as a hobbie, but a pass time. Books provide another world for me to escape into, worlds that aren't real except in the imagination.
I'm going to stop typing now and get on to my other homework. Hope you enjoyed that little passage about me. :)
