Assignment #5

I don't really have a favorite band. It usually changes every few months or so. Right now, though, my favorite band is Aerosmith. I first started noticing them after Wayne's World became Aimee and me's favorite movie. Also, Mike Myers has always been one of my favorite comedians and his favorite band is Aerosmith. So after I saw them on Wayne's World I decided to check them out. I liked that they could sing popular songs and also sing meaningful songs too. Most bands just sing songs that people want to hear and that can get on the radio, but have no meaning what so ever. Aerosmith isn't like that. Yes, some of there songs talk about sex and girls and stuff like that, but others are so amazing. Also, all of the band recovered from drug abuse and other things. Steven Tyler, the lead singer, has been married to the same woman for countless years.

But eventually I'll have a new favorite band. That doesn't mean I won't love Aerosmith's music, but I'll just like another band better at the moment. When I was little, Cher was one of my favorite musicians. Her CD was the first CD I bought by myself and for myself. Then when I was in 6th or 7th grade I liked The All-American Rejects, which now seems utterly stupid to me because their music isn't all that good. I liked the Dixie Chicks A LOT when I was in elementary school. When people started bashing them for what they said about President Bush, I got angry and for my current event, cut out a article about it and presented it to the class.

I mainly like classic rock(thanks to my BFF), country, and classical music. I like pop too, but those songs usually get annoying if you listen to them too much. I grew up listening to classical music and it relaxes me. I don't understand people who say they can't stand classical music because it was one of the first KINDS of music there was, so how can you not like it? It formed the music we have today. Classical music can also express feelings that words can't. It can create so many stories and adds feeling to movies.

My dad actually wanted to name me Stevie after Stevie Nicks, but my mother wouldn't let him(thank God).
